Rei-
Hi all! I'm in my senior year of IB and I will start to apply for uni soon. However, my IB predicted grades are only 29. I'm wondering which uni in Canada might accept me?I'm aiming for Information Science or business. Reply
Summer Glau
Off the top of my head I'm thinking that the Simon Fraser University and University of Ottawa may accept you.http://students.sfu.ca/admission/requirements/IB-AP-UWC.htmlhttp://www.admission.uottawa.ca/default.aspx?tabid=2607For both universities you need at least 26 points. Jaymi
I heard that Waterloo is an amazing university for Business..im considering that university:) Its standards are veeryy high! Okay well the minimum requirement is 28 points...might be one to consider as well? Reply
5.98e24
I had a friend who was near tears most days (before her acceptances) because her predicted total was the same as yours, but she applied and got into Waterloo and McMaster for engineering. Just remember that most Canadian unis will look more heavily at the top 6 average. Edited August 30, 2011 by 5.98e24 Reply
Rei-
thank you all for your replies. If a predicted of 29 points is able to get an offer from Waterloo, I guess it's worth a shot. (not going to put my hopes too high though) Reply
Summer Glau
Yeah just try Waterloo, you'll never know unless you apply. If worst comes to worst you can at least say that you tried. There is still time to improve your predicted grades. Getting your predicted grades into the low 30s is doable and you have a better chance of being accepted, plus you will have more program choices. 1 Reply
nonstop
Well unless you're from a private school, you'll get your IB predicted mark and a provincial mark (out of 100) for each Gr.12 level course that you took. Most universities will consider both your top 6 average from this pool of Gr. 12 provincial marks and your IB diploma points. So even if you can't make it in with your IB diploma, you probably can with your provincial one. Reply
notenoughsleep
SFU is probably your best choice. Science and Business programs are competitive at most universities. Reply
Sabs44
Saint Mary's and Dalhousie in NS are also worth looking into! (scholarships to IB students offered at both) Reply
jeffree
I'm looking at UOttawa, UToronto, Western for Health Sci./Biomedical Sciences in Ontario, Canada. Reply
shellagyu
York University in Toronto, Schulich school of Business? The requirement is 30 points, but they will consider 28 points! Reply
precious22
I believe UBC will accept you. I doubt about UBC vancouver, but UBC okanagan will definitely accept you. Even though UBC okanagan is a smaller campus, it is still a good university especially for a first year university experience, and you will still graduate with a UBC degree.
