Access Denied
I am confused with the Design Section on controlling the variables: Designs a method for the effective control of the variables. do you not have to do more than simply listing the variables dont you also have to explain the controlled variables effects on results and the method of control....very confused thanks Reply
dessskris
usually I list the controlled variables, briefly explain why they need to be controlled, and write how I'm going to control/monitor them. what precisely are you asking? Keel
I am confused with the Design Section on controlling the variables: Designs a method for the effective control of the variables. do you not have to do more than simply listing the variables dont you also have to explain the controlled variables effects on results and the method of control....very confused thanksHi,The criterion you mentioned is basically judging how flawless your experiment is i.e. you control all the control variables effectively. For example, if you were designing an experiment to determine the effect of increased caffeine consumption on heart rate and your method was to give a person 1 caffeine tablet then measure their heart rate 15 mins later and then on the next try give them 2 caffeine tablets and measure their heart rate 15 mins later you would have to make sure that the time between the first try and the second was sufficient for the person's body to remove the caffeine from the first try to give a fair test. To do the second try an hour after the first wouldn't be fair as caffeine from the first try would still be in the person's system. No, you do not need to do any explaining in a design. The main thing in designs are, the focused research question, identifying the dependent, control and independent variables and developing a method to measure the dependent variable whilst creating a fair experiment through the use of control variables (any variable which could change the result of the dependent). Access Denied
Thank you! Desy: Notes the teacher gave were just a little confusing: saying that when listing our controlled variables in the design we also had to predict their possible effects on results. thank you Reply
