IOP Outline Format

An IOP outline isn't really an IB requirement, it's more for your own benefit :crying: What your teacher expects from the outline is really up to him/her. If I were you, I would just outline what your topic is, which book(s) you're using, the format of your presentation (ex. monologue, oral essay, etc.) and what your main points you wish to discuss will be.

You could also include supporting quotations, any technology you may be using (if you are), and perhaps a short explanation as to why you chose to present it in the way you chose (though you don't really need to, it's optional).

As Summer Glau said, it is not an IB requirement so the format varies in different schools.

This is what my teacher told me to include in my IOP proposal:

  • The work(s) that you are going to use
  • The aspect that you are working on (from 1-6 in the Language A1 Guide, IOP)
  • The presentation type (Oral Exposé, Structured Discussion or Role Play)
  • Your thesis
  • The purpose of the IOP
  • Main ideas in bullet points form
