Math Writing Program

If you're on Windows then definitely go for MS Word, because it has an inbuilt equation editor. I use a mac and also use MS Word for my portfolios, but you can also use Pages with MathType.

If you are really into writing maths on the computer you could learn LaTeX, but it takes a while.

Personally, I use MathType on both my Mac and PC. It's much easier to use, and it functions as both an image (if you don't have MathType on a computer) and you can double click it on a computer that has MathType to edit it. If you copy the equations on MS Word to another document, it becomes pixelated. But with MathType, it blends in with the normal text (no pixelation) and looks professional.
