writing CAS forms

Recommended Posts

What he said. Talk about how you have fulfilled the learning outcomes. You may need to exaggerate a bit (we got to call this oaking :P) but do not make things up.

Talk about what you learn, how you interact with others, whether you consider the ethical implications, how this project has affected other people's lives, etc..

Basically, everyone I know lies about it - playing rugby doesn't really "morally educate in the same way blah blah"

Cas forms only need to be approved. They are not sent to the IB moderators CORRECT????? :P :P

Our CAS coordinator gave us a billion forms we could chose from with guiding questions, so we don't constantly have essay-looking reflections. We also take up a page for pics and stuff, so the people checking your CAS can actually SEE what you did.

Here are som useful guiding questions I usually use:

FOR ACTION:

1. I completed the following activity ________________

2. This activity helped me to improve these areas of physical fitness: Strength, flexibility, stamina (reflect on all three and answer if YES/NO if it improved them)

3. How has carrying out this activity helped you to improve:

  • a. technique?
  • b. your self-discipline by fitting into a regular training schedule
  • c. your willingness to accept advice
  • d. your ability to cope with setbacks?

4. what have you learned about your own competitiveness?

5. What have been your greatest challenges during this activity and how did you overcome them?

etc.

FOR SERVICE:

1. I performed __________ service for ____________ oganization/school/community/whatever.

2. How has your service helped others?

3. How has this service helped you improve your

  • a. ability to communicate with others
  • b. organizational skills
  • c. awareness of others needs
  • d. ability to listen to others
  • e. leadership skills?

4. Did you find the experience worthwhile? has it taught you anything new? Did you feel useful?

5. Who or what helped you the most in reflecting on what you are doing?

6. What difficulties did you encounter and how did you overcome them?

etc.

FOR CREATIVITY

1. What was the creative activity?

2. What new skills and techniques did you ?

3. As a result of this activity I am not able to: __________

4. What was your biggest difficulty you faced and how did you overcome it?

5. What have you learned about yourself through this activity?

6. Who or what helped you the most throughout this activity?

etc.

Hope this helps

Follow these steps and you are sure to write a good CAS report:

1- summaries what you did in that activity/project and how you interacted with others.

2- Explain what you hoped to accomplish through this activity/project

3- How successful were you in achieving your goals? What difficulties did you encounter and how did you overcome them?

4- what did you learn about yourself and others through this activity/project? What abilities, attitudes and values have you developed?

5- did anyone help you to think about your learning during this activity/project? If so, who helped and how did they help?

6- how did this activity/project benefit others?

7- how can you apply what you have learned in other life situations?

GOOD LUCK <3
