I'm doing my EE on Psychology too.

Firstly, I'd reccomend going through a list of past EE titles for psychology so you can get some ideas. These can be available on the internet on other school's website, or your own school. Sometimes your school may keep all extended essays for you to browse through, so see if you can arrange to have a look at some... they may have even arranged the best ones for students to look through for examples, so ask them!

For Psychology, my school had these titles from 1994-2001:

Almost 100 years on from Freud's theory, have the theories of dreaming progressed?

· An evaluation of societal, peer and media influences on male sexual aggression towards women

· Is sports psychology an applied science?

· 'Do the genes fit' - is genetics the determinant of criminal behaviour?

· Are there clear benefits for a patient to diagnosed with OCD when experiencing obsessive and compulsive behaviours

· Dreams: Their nature and purpose

· Suicide: are female adolescents more likely than their male counterparts to cry for help?

· An evaluation of the relationship between an individual's level of social support and the incidence of stress-related illness

· Is the failure to be adequately socialised the major contributing factor to the development of adolescent delinquent behaviour

· Depression in adolescence: An expression of a biological trait or gender condition?

· Do Jung’s theories merely reflect what has already been established in Greek Mythology?

· The extent to which each component of the bio-psycho-social theory of

schizophrenia can be used as an explanation of the cause

· Using education to enhance moral development - the classroom discussion technique of Lawrence Kohlberg

· Eyewitness testimony in conjunction with crime stoppers and how hypnosis is used as a possible alternative

· Graphic media campaigns concerning road fatalities appear to be effective, however is their psychological impact on the families of past victims too harmful?

· Bart Simpson is the epitome of narcissistic adolescence and consequently an adolescent narcissist in the purest sense

· Power: Innate or environmental? An evaluation of the Innate and Conditional nature of Power

· The Relationship between Stress and Gender: An Evaluation of recent research

· Why Rape? A critique of the theories associated with why individuals rape

· An investigation into and critical evaluation of the relevance of the theories of Selyc, Maslow and Freud with respect to stress in medical practitioners

· The predisposition to schizophrenia is influenced more by genetic characteristics than by environmental factors

· Der Feuhrer: A psychosocial view of political man

· Evaluate the developmental theories of Erik H. Erickson and Abraham Maslow, using strengths, criticisms and applicability to adolescents

You must be careful though, because obviously some of these issues can be WAY too broad or ambigous, and students have made mistakes, too.

Once you've got some ideas from some titles and seen what other people have done, then think about what really interests you. I knew I was really interested in Child Development and Dreams, but I ended up doing my EE topic on "Freud's inter. of dreams" (But I have to narrow the topic down slightly, I'm writing too much.)

I think the most important thing is to first of all, pick an area of psychology to write your essay on, then think about how you could narrow it down.

Good Luck! Hope that made sense...
