They don't have to disagree, although it would be nice.

Just as nice is if you find historians that you disagree with. Maybe if you connect some parts of "civil rights" to the present.

Are you referring to the Civil Rights Movement in the 60s in the US? You could look at civil rights struggles in South and Central America too.

Coming up with the topic and researching is your task. We can't hand you one. If you do want to do civil rights stuff in the US, realize a lot of people do that. And know that you're not limited to the 1960s. Why are you interested in the topic? Find your connection. Maybe your relatives took part in it. Maybe you see the struggle in your town today. Just try to think of a topic that's a little different. Good luck. Best place to start is going to the library for a few hours, just sifting through books and taking notes [don't forget to write down the citation information as you go. It helps so much!]
