Hey guys, I'm about to start IBDP next year, and I'm planning on taking Music as one of the art subjects. I just wanted to know wether it would be better to take it as SL or HL, What are the pros and cons? Also what can i do now to prepare for taking music as a subject and what can i expect?

Hey, I am in my second year of IBDP and I have taken music. There is little difference between HL and SL. I am doing HL and the only real difference is that you have an extra project called 'Contemporary Music Maker'. Because of this extra project, all the assignments are worth fewer marks to account for it. I highly, highly, HIGHLY, recommend becoming very familiar with music theory and structures. I was completely unprepared for it and I have kind of had to scramble. This course expects that you already have in-depth musical theory knowledge and experience analysing music. Hopefully, you have a better experience than me and have a teacher who will actually guide you through this! The best of luck!
