Pod
I'm not too sure but the teacher is not supposed to provide you with the topic. He/she just has to give you a subject area (water treatment) and you have to think of a something within that subject area. Reply
Vvi
We have had 2 planning labs so far, plus our Group 4 project. One of our labs had to do with enzymes and amylase; one eprson investigated the effect of temperature on enzymes, one person did substrate concentration, another did pH, etc. Some people did the same thing because there aren't that many factors to vary. Basically, you have to have your aim, variables and hypothesis, but also include background research on the topic. This is about the factors you will investigate, water treatment in general and how to interpret results. Then you must design your own method and data collection method, as well as write up the usual conclusion and evaluation. I don't know anything about water treatment, or even what your teacher intends. Methods of purifying water, like adding chlorine and distillation? Since you're a Chem student, I would suppose that's what he means. Google "water distillation" online and see what methods come up. Then pick one that you can do with your school's equipment.
