ivy12003
I'm doing English A1, and I was wondering if this is a suitable research question: "What is the nature of the protagonist's search for identity in Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie?" (Is this too broad?) Reply
Xelar
If I'm not mistaken, English A1 has to be a literary comparison. You need to compare two works. Reply
ivy12003
If I'm not mistaken, English A1 has to be a literary comparison. You need to compare two works. In the EE guide, it gives some examples of titles that only use one work, so I think it's okay. Can anyone confirm? Chelleee
i just double checked with the guidelines for you,it doesn't say that your not allowed BUT it does say that your topic has to fit into either one of these categories (i'll type them out for you):category 1:the essay must be based on the literature of countries where the language is spoken (that is, all works discussed will originally have been written in the language of the essay).category 2:The essay must be a comparison of at least one literary work originally written in the language of theessay with a literary work or works originally written in a different language to that of the essay andprobably studied in translation.yours obviously is a category 1 topic, my only advice would be: be careful it doesn't become descriptive and that you actively analyse your novel. this will be harder as you are only using one work...and the topic still has to be as equally specific as another topic which involves two works.i'd say discuss with your supervisor if you haven't done so already~ Reply
