pictionaryoverlord
Hey guys, I am currently on break and am thinking about my subjects for next year. I wanna pursue Physics and Theoretical/Observational Astrophysics (haven't decided which one yet) and am thinking of the following HL: Physics, Mathematics, English SL: Chemistry, Business Management, French Also, I am looking at universities in the UK, USA, or Canada. Would Eng HL help me bypass the IELTS or TOEFL requirements in foreign unis? Thank you! Reply
kw0573
Yeah Literature HL and Language/Lit HL generally bypasses English requirements. The combination looks good! Wish you the best. Reply
pictionaryoverlord
Thank you! Seeing as you are from Canada, would you tell me a bit about the Universities over there, especially the UoT? Reply
kw0573
If you are thinking if specific programs, you can talk to alumnis, by finding them on LinkedIn. I am not familiar with the Physics program at U of T, but many universities offer physics contests to high school students that you can enter. For example UBC has CAP contest, McMaster's Physics @ Mac, and Waterloo's Sir Issac Newton contest. The US has AAPT Physics Bowl. If you are interested you may be able to write these overseas. Notably the CAP is based on IB HL. If you score well on these you may be favored during admissions, maybe. Reply
