deissi Posted November 10, 2008 Report Share Posted November 10, 2008 LSE rejected me today. I was wondering, whether anyone else got rejected today. I applied for a course that recommended HL Math and I had SL Math. Another friend of mine, who also applied for (another) a course that desired HL Math got rejected on the same date. He got rejected from LSE for accounting and also for economics.When are the LSE offers for law and other courses out? Soon? Scade Posted November 11, 2008 Report Share Posted November 11, 2008 LSE says that it takes them approximately 3 months to process an application. However, they also said that since the end of October they have kept making some decisions every week. And they have a couple of rounds. First one general where those clearly not meeting the conditions are rejected, then they go to more specialised people who make some offers for people who they want certainly, reject some and keep the rest for further comparison and evaluation. I haven't heard from them (except that they got my application) but I'm quite nervous. I do want to get in, but does anytone know what they expect from International History? michaellwh Posted November 20, 2008 Report Share Posted November 20, 2008 Since the person works in our school's university guidance knows some people form LSE and UCL, so both school have a talk with the students in our school , UCL told us that to do apply for economics, they require 36 points (min) and higher level math 6, LSE told us that to do apply for economics, they require 36 points (min) and higher level math 7, I think thats why even deissi have 43 ib points, they still don't let him in, but both school says that they do not require us to take economics in IB, but they said it would help. In fact, most good universities that offer Economics need a decent score in HL Maths.Deissi applied for Accounting and Finance by the way, not Economics. Applicants for the combined honours programmes are expected to address all aspects of the course in their personal statement and the Admissions Tutor felt that you did not demonstrate sufficient interest in accounting in your personal statement.I emailed for the reason for my rejection, and I must say, their reasoning makes sense. I spoke very little about accounting, since my other choices are Land Economy and Financial Economics. I can't say that I'm disappointed because I know that talking about accounting would have killed my Cambridge app. In fact, I wish I hadn't even mentioned it. Also got an offer to King's College London, conditional with 38 points and 666 at highers. She applied to study Literature, and her interview is on the 10th of December. She's reading all these philosophical books now so she will have something to talk about with the interviewers. I'm reading through a couple of books I mentioned in my personal statement and on the topics I said i have been interested in (also sent my essays related to those topics there). I have to say that I am sort of looking forward to the interview even if I don't get in, because the chance to get to speak with such experts in their field is great.
