Quantitative Analysis of Aldehyde Content?

This is for my chemistry IA but every method I found on google seems to require equipment that my school laboratory does not have (eg. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry). Does any of you know of better/simpler ways to measure aldehyde content in a liquid sample using equipment that would be commonly available in a school laboratory?

Thanks!

We can't provide you a detailed approach but you can try look for chemical tests (as opposed to analytical techniques) and use a spectrophotometer plus Beer-Lambert Law to figure out concentration. As usual, the more pure of a sample you have, the less likely that there will be competing reactions. If your school have UV lamps, you can opt to do thin-layer chromatography to identify number of different compounds.
