TheNikawi
Hi guys, What is a good IB subject combination one can take if I plan on studying either economics/finance or computer science/software engineering (still not sure yet)? Preferably one that opens up opportunities for both career paths. English Lit SL Mandarin B SL Economics HL/SL? Physics HL/SL? Math HL/SL? Comp. Sci. HL/SL or Chem HL/SL? Thanks! Vioh
@TheNikawi Personally, I think the choice is quite simple. Because you are aiming for either economics or computer science, it's best to take Economics and CS at HL. Another important subject for both career paths is Math. So you should take that at HL as well. Hence, I'd suggest your combination to be something like this: HL: Math, CS, Economics SL: English, Mandarin, Physics 3 Reply
Elite X-Naut
I think you should also check the universities that you are interested in to see if you need chemistry and physics for software engineering, as it does fall under engineering. And as said above, HL math, cs, and economics are useful for both paths so you should choose those subjects. 1 Reply
