Ana D'Aubeterre
Hey guys, I was just wondering if it's acceptable to refer to yourself whilst writing a historical investigation essay. For example, if I wanted to state my opinion or conclusion on something, would I refer to myself or cut it out completely? Reply

IB_taking_over
Hey guys, I was just wondering if it's acceptable to refer to yourself whilst writing a historical investigation essay. For example, if I wanted to state my opinion or conclusion on something, would I refer to myself or cut it out completely?Since it's the new IB syllabus, no one really knows what IB is looking for. Generally speaking 'I' in academic writing is not acceptable. It's your paper, meaning that anything you say (that isn't cited) is your opinion. Saying in my opinion' or 'I think' tends to degrade the idea that is being presented. Edited December 13, 2015 by IB_taking_over 1 Reply
