quinntessence
So because I was terrible at French, I asked my IB coordinator if I could self-study Japanese instead, in which I am already fairly fluent. It's been a year now, and I have been self-studying, it helps because my mom is fluent in the language as well. However, my coordinator has told me that I need a tutor to work with (which seems a bit redundant considering my mom) in order to take my test. Has anyone here ever self studied a language that their school did not offer?? I am really confused! How many hours do I have to work with the tutor? Because tutors are very expensive, and I don't necessarily need one. Besides the actual test, is there any "in-class" work per se that needs to get done as well? Internal Assessments as such? Lastly, is it not possible for me to just take the test at a school that offers SL Japanese? Thank you! Reply
