Bee =3
has anybody here gotten 100% in IB??if your scores are close, how close are they? where are you from, what subjects did you sit for, and most importantly, how the heck did you do it??B Reply
blindpet
Do you mean 45/45? Or do you mean full marks for IAs and external exams? I doubt anybody in the history of IB got 45 points got full marks in everything. But I could be wrong.Anyway, clarify and you'll get the responses you seek . __inthemaking
^ What blindpet said. Do you mean 45/45 or 100% after translation? Reply
Bee =3
d*mn. this shows how little i know of the IB. what's the difference? hence.. i can't answer ur questions ftm..thanks, B Reply
__inthemaking
IB gives you grades on a scale of 1-7 (7 being the highest). You have 6 IB subjects, and a possible 3 bonus points from your EE + TOK. So the maximum number of points you can achieve is 45. That would be a "perfect" score in IB (which means you got all 3 bonus points and got 7's in each subject).Your high school may translate your IB marks back to percentages because (in Ontario, Canada), our report cards show a percentage rather than our IB mark. So it's possible to get translated back to 100%. Reply
hk213
Yes there is one person from our school in the past who got perfect in everything...I don't know how that person did it though Edited September 12, 2008 by hk213 Reply
heronumbazero
something like that is unheard of (100% in all IB courses translated) from where I come from. Most people have a strong suit in one or two subjects, where they were close or got 100%. I have yet to hear of 100% all across the board. But, as my teacher put it, "Don't go into IB if you care about your marks" Reply
__inthemaking
It happened 2 years ago at my school (a girl got 45 points, so she was translated a 100%).I ended up getting translated to a 99.17% for my top 6 courses. But that's just for my top 6, of which english was not one of them..I got translated to a 89 in english, which would've brought me down. heronumbazero
The translation in our school doesnt work like that. It basically is split - you do some IB stuff, and you do some normal stuff. Your normal stuff makes up your normal grade. Even if you get 45/45 in IB, you will most likely not get 100% all across the board. Its quite difficult to do that. Reply
__inthemaking
Our translation works like this:During the school year, when you do the normal high school assignments/tests etc, you're given a normal percentage grade. Say I had a 96 in biology (untranslated) and I was ranked first in my class because I had the highest mark in this subject. If I got a level 7 in the biology IB exam, then I would be translated to 100% because I was top of the class. So basically one person will get 100% in each subject and everyone else is compared to them accordingly. The admin says that this system encourages students to not slack off during the school year because the higher your normal mark is, the higher you'll be translated after IB results. For the girl that got 45 and 100%, she was the top of the class in every subject prior to the exams. KLSmash
We had a guest speaker at school today, and when he graduated from IB in May 2003, he was predicted 44/45, and he got 42/45 and it translated into a 99.3% average on his transcript.
