King112
Hey, I haven't really had much in my TOK class, because all our teacher makes us do is watch videos and write reflections about what we saw.I am really confused because i am not sure what exactly knowledge questions and areas of knowledge are. Our teacher had never mentioned them, and was like write a 700 word essay. I totally wrote bulll****, but thats another issue. Also, I am superly confused about how the essay and presentation bits work. Finally, what exactly are ways of knowing? Our teacher doesnt tell us anything.I have zero idea about TOK, so please let me know in as much depth as you possibly can. Thanks in advance. Emmi
Start with the stickied posts at the top of the TOK forum: Presentation: http://www.ibsurvival.com/topic/13822-tok-presentation-official-guide/Essay: http://www.ibsurvival.com/topic/17277-tok-essay-official-guide/General TOK: http://www.ibsurvival.com/topic/290-introduction-to-tok-bits-of-tok-wisdom-advice/ Some of the info might be outdated (like what score is an A, a B, etc or how many marks is the essay out of) but the general advice still applies. ShootingStar16
For our TOK classes, we have discussions and then reflect on a specific topic as blog entries. If you want a general idea, I could send you a URL to my TOK blog. The ways of knowing are sense perception, intuition, imagination, faith, reason, memory, emotion and language. We looked how subjective/objective these categories were and whether or not different types of knowledge had different types of value. We also watched a video of Allegory of the Cave: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69F7GhASOdM and compared the 'cave' to our world today. Furthermore, we challenged the use of reason in the pursuit for truth through watching the Monty Hall Problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhlc7peGlGg. Hope this helps!
