Help in finding a book that relates to food

I am currently searching for a research question for my EE, the topic so far being "food in literature", which is extremely broad. My supervisor told me to find one to two books that I can write a lot about food on, whether it's symbolism or cultural significance or something like that. I think it might be nice doing it on literary works in different original languages, and I might know some in Chinese, but I'm just extremely unsure about this whole thing now. What are some books related to food, and what kind of research question might I be able to form?

I can only think of cook books or restaurant reviews. What exactly do you mean by "Food"? I mean the Famous Five eat a lot, if thats the kind of thing you are looking at....... But I'm not really sure what you mean.... Can you clarify, and then I will probably be of more help

Try "Like Water for Chocolate." It was originally written in Spanish, but you can find English translations.

Just remember that for a Group 1 EE, at least one of the works you choose must have been originally written in that Group 1 language (so I'm presuming English for you).

By food I just mean anything edible that has some sort of significance in a literary work. Preferably not cookbooks, since I don't think I am capable of making an in depth analysis of meanings in the ingredients of a recipe....Or can I?

Here are some literary works that I gathered from the internet that have some sort of connection to food:

- Pomegranate Soup

- Like Water for Chocolate

- Chocolat (or other Joanne Harris books)

- Crescent

- Ulysses

- The Master and Margarita

- Dream of the Red Chamber

- The Importance of Being Earnest

- The Edible Woman

- The Bible (...)

- Jane Austen's novels

- A Christmas Carol (or other Charles Dickens' books)

- In Search of Lost Time

Does anyone know any from this list or how I might be able to pair one with another?
