Yashichi
Read the whole post before replying, please. Also, anything that sounds disrespectful in any way is probably intended as a joke =P Allow me to introduce myself. My name is (first name) (last name), but if you wish, you can call me (nickname). Or anything you want. I don't really care. As none of you know, I am not an IB student, nor have I any intention of becoming one. I have little, if any, knowledge of how the IB system works. But, my friends, is the reason I have come here. I come to learn, to discover, to excavate from the catacombs of this internet forum the procedures and curricula unhelpfully obscured by the IB website and those of the schools who share its program. So I come to you, armed with only my experiences with AP tests, my wits, and my questions, to seek aid in shedding light on this road not taken, bent off into the undergrowth of secrecy. I implore that you suffer my questions, as I am a mere non-IB who is at his wit's end trying to learn what he's been missing. I'll try to keep my questions clear and concise, and I'll try not to bore you with really obvious questions. In return, you can ask me anything (within reason (some things I might not be able to answer >_>)). First question: 1. As a self-identified math nerd, I have often been interested in knowing the curricula of other math programs (I like to feel smart ). From my limited resources, I have gleaned that AP Calculus (which I have taken) is comparable in the IB program to Mathematics HL (is this the right title?). Could anyone provide me with an overview of topics covered in this course, or a link to a resource that lists them? Reply
MarianaHP
Wow you really are a math nerd, and i dont understand why ur so interested in IB, but whatever... anyway here is a link with the subjects that the IB covers in HL Maths http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/IB_Mathematics_(HL) Reply
__inthemaking
I didn't take maths HL myself, so I'm just going on a wild assumption here but..I know for sure that maths HL doesn't only deal with calculus, there are numerous other topics that are dealt with within this subject (probability, stats, algebra, matrices, etc) as well as option units (which are an extension of some subjects). I'm not sure if AP calc deals SOLELY with calculus or not..but if not, then maths HL includes a great deal more than AP calc. Reply
Guest Lily Bean
IB Maths HL syllabus: http://www.ibsurvival.com/forum/index.php?...athematics%20HL IB Maths (SL + HL) has a lot more than just Calculus.
