Musical Links Investigation

I've decided to go with an african piece (yet to be decided which one im using) because I'm more confident with talking about its characteristctics and analysing african music, but i don't know what i can link african music to, i was looking into irish folk music but i can't find a piece that has features such as call and response, or improvisation, or polyrhythms etc. maybe I'm not looking hard enough but i figured I would come on here to ask you guys.

have any of you done an MLI using an african piece? what did you link it to?

thanks x

Hey

It's worth looking into possibly Indian music? The immediate links I can think of are the complex rhythms and also possibly linking repeated african chants to the usage of drones in Indian music. I'm sure there are more, it's a good idea to actually hear a few pieces first!
