The Scientist
Is it a good idea to do an EE in math on Group theory and the mathematical symmetries seen in nature? Reply
Guest B.E.P.
It really depends on the specific topic. For the group theory one, it would depend on the topic, how you approach it, and how you cover it.For the second topic, I would recommend against it, as the Math EE 2012 report states:The main types of inappropriate subjects are: Subjects not lending themselves to mathematical treatment and therefore having only trivial and negligible mathematical content. (e.g. mathematics and sports, mathematics and music, mathematics and architecture, mathematics and beauty) If you have any specific questions PM me! rinik
You can choose any topic but you have to remember a few things:- You will have to use mathematics. Which means you will have to use mathematical methods for whatever you are doing- You have to show mathematical reasoning and show that you understand what are you asking about- Use correct terminology- Make the essay accessible to people. You will be rewarded if you can explain hard concepts in a simple way.Don't just choose a topic and exclude any above in your essayIf you want some extra info and some examples pm and I will send you some material through emailSource: The criteria and writing my math EE this summer Reply
