Is my Internal Assessment Research Question too Broad?

Hello, fellow IBers!

I want my IA to be about the Sino-Soviet split, but is the question: "What were the causes of the Sino-Soviet split?" too broad?

My history teacher says it's a good place to start when looking for sources.

What do you think? Is it too broad? Should I only look at one of the possible causes?

Yes. It's far too broad. Take ONE cause and say use the format "TWE was the Sino-Soviet split a result of X".

Mine was TWE was the reign of Umar II the cause of the ultimate fall of the Umayyad Caliphate

Like your teacher said, its a good place to start researching. But it is too broad and straightforward, so you'll go over your word limit anyway. Pick a specific cause and use 'to what extent'

I think choosing one of the causes might help narrow it down a lot.
