Lan
hey guys, as you know, one of the primary factor that will affect your future tremendously is your choice on college. so tell me, what college do you want to attend and why. do you prefer private or public? far away from home or vise versa? personally, i would like to attend a private college that is close to home. since i want to be a psychiatrist, the college that i would like to go offers a very good medical program but it is very expensive. what about you? thanks a lot. Silviana
Cambridge/ Oxford because they are prestigious. Hmm... I'd like to study law at Melbourne Uni because that sounds like a really cool course... dunno? But Bond University also sounds awesome- it's a private university on the Gold Coast and apparently uni students just go surfing every morning Reply
Forester
I would go to Melbourne if they offered me their national scholarship. Reply

ezex
MIT times a million since it's the best engeneering school in the world. Also, the place is fantastic. They say that even though it snows a lot during the winter, the landscape is beautiful and since I've never seen snow it would probably be amazing to me. And if I don't make it there, which odds are against me since only 7% of the applicants make it, I'll try going to Cal. Tech. But MIT is my first second and third choice Reply

schouston1991
Of course i would LOVE to get into an ivy leage school such as princeton, oxford or harvard... but of course that woiuld require an almost perfect score and a scholarship... which i am not naive enough to think that i might get. so i've got my heart set on Sydney Uni, or maybe ANU. (also imnot to sure about moving overseas..... tad scary)sydney because.... well everyone wants to go there. haha lol. yeah it has a really good rep, awsome buildings, and good facultly. also my bro goes there and its not too far from where i liveANU because it australia's number one uni, and because i want to go into diplomacy and its located in Australia's capitial that's always a good starting point. also its aabout 4 hours away from home... which is a bit scary but i suppose it would be fun to get out of home. also i hear that student life in canberra is pretty good. as for private or public..... well i think it's a bit different in australia that in the states. pretty much all of the university's are pubic. you still have to pay but you can hecs it (thats where the gov't pays and then they just take like 4% i think out of your wages once you get a proper job unitll its paid bak) wich is way better than getting a student loan or something. some private colleges you can hecs now... but there are very few private ones around and they are mainly like design schools etc. so yeah, deffinatly governmetn run uni for me, of course i'd say private if i lived in the states. Oh and also, i think it's a bit unfair that different university's have different UAI requirements for the same course. To get into International studies t sydney you need a 98.5 while at ANU you only need to score an 80.6 which is a HUGE difference. So which university i go to will probably be MAJORLY affected by my score at the end of the IB. Wish me luck -soph x Edited July 4, 2008 by schouston1991 Reply
Forester
if you think you are an all rounder, the ivy league may not be such a big reach. your final ib score doesn't even matter when applying to the states.just make sure you are dux (do they use dux in oz?) or ranked highly in your school. KLSmash
Probably Waterloo as they have a great Math department and a bunch of courses that I'm really interested in - and which a lot of other Canadian universities lack. :\ Reply
