Juan Castellanos
I am planning on doing a debate between an oxford dictionary expert and an urban dictionary expert. My ideas are: - Having a preliminary-speach so that the expert on both sides have the opportunity to say their pros and cons of their area of expertease.- After that have a space for debate on the speeches highlight what each of them are not in agreement.- Have a celebrity who uses language as their way to make a living (like eminem for example) and have some questions on what he thinks about language and whether we apply slang and other "urban" terms in our daily use.But the debate has to be oriented on "How is language used to create meaning?" so I was thinking on debating on how having dictionaries limits peoples freedom of speech because they can't express themselves as good as if they had the oportunity to invent the words for themselves.suggestions? Annddrreww
I think you are definitely on the right track as far as limiting people with their freedom of speech rights...Go from there. Reply
