Desperate for help on my rationale.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm doing a pastiche for "The Whale Rider" as a written task.

I'm abysmal with the rationale and really need help from anyone of you T__T.

So, I heard that I must satisfy the following criteria::

  • how the content of the task is linked to a particular part of the course (WHAT PARTS ARE THERE IN THIS COURSE ANYWAY!??!!!!!)

  • how the task is intended to explore particular aspects of the course

  • the nature of the task chosen

  • information about audience, purpose and the varying contexts in which the task is set.

  • The rationale should not only include knowledge about the text or topic studied, but also about the formal conventions of the text type produced and how they relate to the aims of the task.

PLEASE GIVE ME SOME TEMPLATE OR SENTENCES TO BEGIN WITH SO THAT I COULD SATISFY THESE CRITERIA OF THE RATIONALE!!!

I THINK THAT I"LL BE HEADING MORE TO THE RIGHT TRACK IF I HAVE SOME SENTENCES TEMPLATE TO START MY THINKING T__T.

THANK YOU!~

This is what I posted from this thread (http://www.ibsurvival.com/topic/21796-written-task-1-poem-ia/):

Rationale (200-300 words)

This is the part of the WT1 where it is NOT a creative piece. This is where you state what you have done and how you have shown it through your Main Body through devices you have utilised, especially the "nature of the task"; what is your purpose? Who is your audience? Why this text type/format? What literary features have you used, and how does this show your understanding? Typically, this is at the beginning of your WT1 so when the examiner/teacher reads your Main Body, they are able to identify the devices you have utilised easily (and hence give your marks based on it). Here are some phrases to help you with this part:

  • I have chose to create a... (outline task including reason for choosing narrative perspective and text type)
  • In the text/topic, a key theme/idea is... I wanted to express this through...
  • In order to show my understanding of... I have...
  • I have chose to write for... because...
  • One challenge I encountered was... however I overcame this by...

Here is the new syllabus for reference: http://www.ibo.org/d...t_1102_1b_e.pdf

As for the "particular part of the course", please refer to the syllabus above - it states the different parts of the syllabus, such as Language and Mass Communication.

Good luck!
