aahmedov
In my school they didnt offer biology at HL. So I decided to take physics HL instead of biology HL, since in the science subject there is pretty much a light year difference between HL and SL.So I decided its not worth taking SL biology. The Economist
Have you thought about taking the biology SL class and studying the extra HL material by yourself so that in May 2013 you can take the HL exam? Reply
carpediem
Most universities require Chemistry HL to apply for medicine, and biology HL is supposed to be very helpful as well. I'm sure there are universities that may have a requirement of "A Science HL" and not Chem/Bio specifically, but I think there aren't many. You can do a pre-med course beforehand.Source: http://www.nhscareers.nhs.uk/details/default.aspx?id=556 Reply
fallingstars
Hi, this website is very useful in looking at which unis you can get to when you don't have bio: http://unireq.co.uk/search.php Reply
parkie
i think you need chemistry more than physics... in UK, chemistry HL 6 or 7 is required for medicine!for all you hls, you need about 18 points overallhave you decided what schools you are going to apply? are you international student? or EU? ChocolateDrop
Chemistry HL is required, some specify Biology HL but there are others which don't specify. only say Chemistry HL and one of Maths, Physics or Biology HL. http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wiki/Medical_School_IB_Requirements Reply
Kaushalz
I have the same issue actually...It seems like Cambridge, Oxford and Newcastle are the only top ranked unis that don't require Biology. Reply
reemisali
Most uni's will prefer if you have Biology and Chemistry. You should email the universities you're applying to directly and ask them if they require it! Reply
Farhan Anis
i have gone through many university websites and also inboxes them... where as requirements are concerned... every university prefers chem and bio HL.... I tried looking for foundational courses.... where you can drop chem or bio but there are rarely any university... and if there are... they are not well ranked... in the world... and all good universities take only students from UK... so look for foundation courses maybe you find one...
