hibye
Our school chose the Abnormal Psych option along with the human relationships option. For abnormal psychology, we only have to choose one disorder from 2 out of the 3 categories (affective disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders). I want to do PTSD and Bulimia, which are from anxiety disorders and eating disorders, respectively. However, I've noticed that my textbook has a lot more information on major depressive disorder (an affective disorder). Would it be a disadvantage to me if I choose PTSD and Bulimia, which I have less information about? Would my marks be negatively impacted? This textbook provides MUCH more information on depression than the two disorders that I would want to do. I find these two more interesting. Michel Tabari
Your mark will in the end be determined by the amount of knowledge you possess. Therefore, as long as you know your stuff it's not to your disadvantage to pick your 'preferred' two disorders. Reply
jbiscuits1
You aren't being graded differently due to which book you studied. Without sounding too critical, this is a dumb question. If you know more on a particular disorder, then play to your advantage. Don't handicap yourself and try to discuss a topic you don't know. Neighbor
It all depends on the question, too, which is given during the Exam. It may say etiologies/symptoms of a mood disorder, and not necessarily both mood and eating disorders. But really, if you're already an expert in one, does it hurt to learn about another?
