maxandchris
So I'm starting my Extended Essay, and I have come up with a topic in my field of Psychology, but after looking around on here for a while; it is way too broad (not doing too well in English if you can't tell by this sentence haha). My research question is, "Do all psychoactive drugs have the same affect on the human psyche?" And I was gonna go over the four categories; hallucinogens, depressants, stimulants, and narcotics and talk about dependence, effects, and how they are used. What do you think, all constructive criticism welcome Edited December 7, 2011 by maxandchris Reply

+Agastya
I don't really understand your research question. Isn't it understood that psychoactive drugs are fundamentally different from each other and therefore produce different reactions in the human mind? If you are interested in psycho-pharmaceuticals, then maybe another research question could be about the treatment of a certain disorder and maybe you could conclude which intervention technique or drug would provide the fastest recovery? Sabs44
Agreed. ^Maybe you could compare/contrast two, and examine the effect that they have, rather than asking whether they all have the same effect. Reply
maxandchris
I like your idea Agastya, but I would prefer to stick to more of the illegal drugs idea instead of medical treatment through drugs. It is my area of interest hehe. But Sabbs, if I do as you suggest, how would I word the research question since it has to be a proof of some sort. Also, any ideas on how to take such a simple idea and turn it into a 4000 word essay? Reply
