canada456 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Share Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) HiI got 26/30 on my IA for geography, which is a 7.I made a very stupid mistake on my essay question on paper 1 yesterday that will probably cost me about 11 points, plus losing a couple more points here and there for various reasons. I've estimated about 42/60 on paper 1.I did very well on paper 2 this morning because I studied really hard, and I think I could get around 34/40 on paper 2.Both of those exam estimates are low estimates, just in case. It's possible the things I thought I got wrong were actually right. But I know that I lost AT LEAST 11 points on P1.Is a 7 in IB geo SL still even a possibility for me, or will my mistake on paper 1 cost me and bring me down to a 6?Thanks Edited May 6, 2011 by taylorfromcanada Reply Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
vira.may Posted May 13, 2011 Report Share Posted May 13, 2011 according to last year's grade boundaries, you're still very likely to get a 7.you only need 72% overall for a 7, from last year's boundaries. Reply Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Max Power Posted May 13, 2011 Report Share Posted May 13, 2011 The weightings for SL are:Paper 1 -> 40%Paper 2 -> 35%IA -> 25%Therefore:Paper 1 -> 42/60 -> 28%Paper 2 -> 34/40 -> 29.75%IA -> 26/30 -> 21.67%Total -> 28+29.75+21.67 = 79.42%This is definitely a 7 in Geography SL.
