littlemissbroadway
HI everyone, I'm in my first year of IB theatre (HL) and right now we're doing a "fake" RI, just to try. I already chose realism as my style and narrowed it down to Henrik Ibsen's " A Doll's House" but now I'm stuck. I have absolutely NO CLUE how to formulate a question and how a good question would sound like... So maybe could anyone tell me a question or just give me some advice on how to formulate one?? This would really be a great help thanks Reply
Engel
I bet this is too late, but as far as I know Ibsen (I'm Norwegian myself), he made out a whole lot of controversy on the topics he wrote about. Norway was once a very conservative and old-fashioned country, and the works of Ibsen always countered that. He was, as I'd call it, ahead of his time. In "A Doll House" he describes a situation very unlikely to happen in Norway at that point in history, and this made the Norwegians to think. It might've changed some of the "Norwegian mentality", and it was a kick in the right direction towards gender equality (although we have a long way to go). So I would focus on that, if you're analyzing the whole picture of the play. Make it historical and perhaps about gender equality and the thoughts of the Norwegian society when it comes women.Good luck anyways! Reply
