Group 4: Light. Physics?

currently, i think my team is in big trouble. I think our design's gonna be due in less than a week, but I forgot the exact deadline. So far we've got the chemistry and biology portion off the ground, but we still have yet to start on physics O_O

I thought it would be easy considering our topic must be light/electromagnetic radiation in general....

What are experiment possibilities for infrared radiation? Right now I'm considering comparing visible light with IR and how they penetrate materials.

The problem is that the supervisor doesn't like the "on and off" nature of this experiment (dependent variable: yes it goes through/no it doesn't)

What are some good alternatives? or can I improve this experiment?
