ecieee
So I've been interested in applying to UK universities, and I came across BMAT (which is probably similar to UMAT in Australia I think)which I would have to take in order to apply for Med.Since I am preparing for UMAT, I was like "oh yeah I might apply to UK universities as well ...BMAT seems fine"but then when I looked into the test date, it was during the middle of my IB exams in november this year! What should I do? Shall I just give up on it? Reply
pumkinns
Well, you shouldn't worry, unless the clashing part is during the timing. I know it's hard, i once took the SAT Toefl and the an exam in one day, and the thing is all three are in different locations. try talking to your IB coordinator, they might be able to assist you. there are some measure that teachers can go through, such as sending with you an escort. to make sure you wont cheat from someone the answers if you are to take the exam after your classmates. i'm not sure if you can reschedule your BMAT, am not familiar with it's rules, but still i know its important.don't give up. good luck with that Reply
Bishup
Oh that is really unfortunate. I didn't revise for mine and didn't get into to my top choice because I didn't quite scrape the cut-off mark. If you were a may candidate I would say study like a bitch but because your southern hemisphere I reckon it is not worth it. In both the UK and Australia grades means everything so focus on them please. Why not apply to non-BMAT universities? There are another 26 medical schools in the UK.In actual fact I reckon you can do it. Spend a week revising the BMAT. Revise now. Know your stuff really well. And take the exam. Don't study during your precious IB revision time though. Just take it and see how it goes. Reply
ecieee
I can't take it - I don't think. It's completely clashes with my IB exam. and I mean literally "clashes".I can't be at two places at the time can I? I wish I had hermione's clock thingy that I can use to rewind time, but I don't have it!I can't get my school to reschedule my IB exam right?I mean I can take it perhaps couple of hours later.......but I guess that's against the IBO rules? Sandwich
If I were you, I would actually contact those Universities that you want to apply to and explain your predicament. Suggest that you could take an alternative paper, or ask if you could apply without the BMAT. You're more likely to have success with that than getting an IB exam moved Reply
