I just finished writing on this topic, and I mostly considered the idea of "ineffability," something that you might want to look into. You can really compare the arts to a more precise area, say, mathematics, and look at how knowledge is obtained through these areas. In the arts, it is hard to explain the beauty of something- you can describe features common to great works of art that make the work beautiful, but you can't pass on your knowledge of its beauty to anyone else. Mathematics, by contrast, has a very precise use of symbols which we all know that can communicate any knowledge within the area supposing you know about these symbols.
