wam
I have to write a chemistry lab report on the rate of reaction between magnesium ribbons of different length and water .Does the following make a valid question "Identifying the most accurate methods for determining the rate of reaction between water and varying lenghths of mg ribbons"If not , which I have a god feeling it isn't , is valid , then how do I formulate a good research question in chemistry IA ? commie
If I understood what u r doing - you are throwing the magnesium ribbons with different length and water and somehow measure the reaction rate... basically different length is different surface area. And you are investigating how surface affects the rate of reaction. I would suggest something like "Relationship between surface are and rate of reaction" or "How surface area of reactant affects the reaction rate". 1 Reply
dessskris
I completely agree with commie. You can also say "Investigate the relationship between the surface area of a reactant and the rate of reaction".Yours means that you would conduct a number of experiments and see which method is best; and this doesn't make sense. 1 Reply
