We had an entrance exam to get into pre-IB (the SSAT) for grade 9. After that, my school has some rule where you have to maintain an 80% average each year, with at least 70% in each course, or they kick you out. I honestly don't think they take the rule that seriously though (it's not a very good rule, in my opinion). It's more like a recommendation, actually, since there are a few people who didn't meet that 'requirement' who are going to IB.There was no test/exam/essay to go from pre-IB to IB though, only to get into pre-IB for grade 9. It may vary from school to school though, so check with your school to be sure.Edit: It might sound hard but it's actually not as bad as it seems.
