kankeel
I submitted my business IA and turnit in said I have 8% similarity. How do I know this is not plagiarism? Will I be regarded to have plagiarised just because I have 8% similar to like 100 other pieces of work? deissi
If you did it yourself you will know it is not plagiarism. You shouldn't care about what Turnitin says.
Shannon
If you quoted anything Turnitin counts that as plagiarism (because it doesn't know that it is used as a quote) but as long as you cited it properly, your teacher will know that it isn't plagiarism. If you have quotation marks, it will not be counted as plagarism. Turnitin.com does count common phrases as plagarised though, so this might be part of your problem. My teachers said that, as a general rule, anything under %15 is fine.
__inthemaking
8% similarity is fine.
Feist
I agree with __inthemaking, an 8% similarity is fine, I'm not positive as to whether there is a concrete percentage which defines "plagarised" but I think it's optimal to keep it within 0-10%.
