IB to UAI Conversion unfair?

Hi im planning to apply to Australia for MBBS, and i've heard from some people that the conversion from IB and UAI is quite unfair, compared to other secondary school qualifications e.g. UK's A-Levels.

Is this true?

Also, i heard that some universities in Australia (e.g. UAdelaide) will give students 2 extra points if you take certain subjects for the IB (e.g. A language other than English and HL Maths). Do you guys know anything about this kind of system in other universities?

Last I heard UAI conversion is quite generous. Anything over 32 is 90+. Not sure what UAI requirements for med are but for any other courses, it means offers are pretty low.
