Peachez
Summer assignment before entering IB? Interesting.. and unknown to me.I would assume that you do not have to do all the assignments that were given. Of course it depends on how strict your teachers are and everything. Make sure you at least skim through or know the context (read the summary at least) before coming to school. you never know, maybe you wil lbe the only one at least barely knowing about the book or novel that you were supposed to read. Also, reading books over the summer is a good idea. Even if you are moving to a different place or if you are super busy doing other work. Reading a novel in your free time will most probably bring you pleasure and you might even enjoy it (depending how much you love reading, but I am assuming you don't because you started this thread). Basically, find at least 30 minutes each day to read. It is not all that much time you will be losing form whatever your plans for the summer are. Taigan
I too was given summer work before IB. However, my teachers and the IB co-ordinator stressed to us many times that it wasn't optional, and that we had to do the work or else we would fall behind and have to rush through the syllabus. I don't find this unusual as I know the IB has a very large workload and some schools prefer to assign some work to the students that they are able to do. This means that the teachers wouldn't have to start from the beginning in September. I'd say that you should definitely do the work. If it is required than you wouldn't fall behind, but if it isn't compulsory, then it wouldn't hurt to do extra work. So, yes, do it, you will be rewarded on the end. You should get used to the idea that more of your spare time will now have to be dedicated to work. It is a sad truth. Reply
