Zane24212 0
Would anyone mind guiding me in doing my experiment for the Chem IA. I am trying to find the effectiveness of different brands of liquid antacids. I have cabbage powder which I plan to mix with water for my indicator. I am using distilled white vinegar as my acid. I have three different brands of antacid Pepto Bismol, Mylanta, and Graviscon. I have all the equipment I need (I think). I have a buret, magnetic stirrer, 2 small beakers, and pH paper. I’m just not sure how to do the experiment. What do I start with? What type of titration will I do? What measurements should I keep track of? My end goal is to find which liquid antacid is the best at neutralizing acid. From my research, it seems that all titrations involved with antacids have to do with back-titration but I don’t think I have the necessary standardized bases/acids like NaOH and HCl. Any advice would be appreciated! Reply
