You need to ask them what kind of accredited agency they require, and if they have any preference of agency. It's better if you call them, since that email wasn't helpful at all! When stuff is as complicated as that, it's better to clarify in person rather than rely on emails, because with most American and Canadian universities, they have a textbook of standard email replies that they just copy and paste in every email. Abu Posted December 31, 2008 Report Share Posted December 31, 2008 Yeah, most IB candidates are from the US, and a lot of IB diploma international students go to the US after high school, so yes, it actually surpasses high school work standards.When does a high school ever ask you to write a 4000 word essay? But yea, thanks for your advice Im going to give them a call after the new years after my dad said "No chinese Uni for you". I was emailing UWO once, and asked a bunch of questions and got the bog standard reply. I sent back an angry email, and then did they bother replying. American universities usually won't require a specific IB score to gain entrance.Have you thought about applying to some of the UCs? Such as UCLA, UCD? IBStuck Posted January 4, 2009 Report Share Posted January 4, 2009 ok so they all toldf you good advice so far, btu there is something that they dind't tell you.at most uni ahlf the uni has heared IB and half hasn't so call and ask around.ok so when you call here is my advice. call, ask theere name, and ask about what you want to know. then call again and speak to some one differnt. if they tell you soemthing different say well so and so told me this this and this, and see if you can get the answer you are looking for.if you can't call back again, and tell the, what you want but pretend that soemone else told you at the uni that it is true, but you dont'; remeber who told you. then you can get your answer that way too.but most US unis accept IB and they might even give you college credit for it, if they are a nice uni.tell me if you have any more US uni questions. IBStuck Posted January 8, 2009 Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 Omg I love you! I've applied to UCLA and my teachers think i'll get at least 38 points. I would be really happy to attend it! The other problem after the admissions, is the cash (which is like my biggest problem)there are some scholarships out theere for international students, but they can be hard to find. you can alos call the school to see if they offer any sort of finacail aid for international students.just a general note to everyone: call universites before you eamil them. you can get your answer faster this way, and you usally get redirected to the right person, and then if you don't just call back again. irenesme Posted February 9, 2009 Report Share Posted February 9, 2009 Also I am completing the International Baccalaureate here in NZ and your website does not give clear indication of the scores needed, other then elective credits. As I am not an American high school student I don't understand what electives and other terminology mean.Is there any score that Cal Poly is looking for in a I.B diploma candidate? If it helps, I'm hoping to study Business.Did they even directly answer your questions? I might be able to answer some questions on the terminology since I am a Californian American High School Student.Also, if you really are not getting answers on the Cal Poly scores I can email some of the students in my IB program who go to Cal Poly now to see what scores the school awards credit for.Therefore, you would go through a more of a "hand-held" selection process.Lol!
