Smartyangel16
I really want to do an English extended essay and I need help finding a great book, hopefully one that I read, and there's the dystopian novel called Legend by Marie Lu and I want to know if that's appropriate enough before I ask my teacher and possibly get humiliated 😅 Reply
mac117
Don't be shy to talk to your teacher. They're there to give you constructive criticism and feedback you need to succeed. The ones who ask are not lost  Reply
Smartyangel16
Well it's not like I'm shy to talk to her it's just that we don't start talking about them until next week and I would just like to have a good book in mind 😊 Reply
VeronicaG
I've read Legend several times (as well as the rest of the trilogy) and in all honesty I don't think it's appropriate for an EE. My school discouraged YA books in HL Lit in general because there just isn't enough depth and you probably won't get an A or B if you choose it If you like dystopian, Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale is really haunting and thought provoking. Really good read, plus it brings up some really deep thoughts on religion and feminism  Take this with a grain of salt though. My school hasn't produced an English EE in 5 years. IBislife444
I am probably too late but in my opinion anything has enough depth if you choose the right topic. My friend did her EE on dystopian and utopian novels, and her essay was amazing. Maybe choose more than one book??? Â Reply
hellospanishme
It kind annoys me how people look down on YA with the argument that there isn't much to write about just because it's for teens. With passion, you can write about anything. Reply
