usernamed
I'm 252 words over the word count in my written task 2.What happens then? Will the IB deduct marks from my IA?I've already cut down 200 words and I have no clue how to cut it down anymore without completely editing it, and I've got to hand it in to my teacher by this week. Please tell me what the IB does in these cases if you know. Reply
batool
I think that they do not read after the word limit has been met and also deduct marks (beyond the marks you would've lost by the text that has been unread). 1 Reply

I think that they do not read after the word limit has been met and also deduct marks (beyond the marks you would've lost by the text that has been unread). This is from the IB English Guide... Each task must be 800–1,000 words in length with an added rationale of 200–300 words. If the word limit is exceeded, the assessment will be based on the first 1,300 words. If you exceed the word limit, two marks will be deducted and the examiner will not read past 1300 words. Do try your best to cut down, if not you may need to sacrifice some arguments. 1 Reply
