Paper 1 & Paper 2... How can I stop failing hard?

Hi guys;

 

So I take English HL Lang & Lit and I have this big problem where I have papers under the recommended word count - mostly because I find that I'm really dense.

 

Dense being that I know that the authors of the texts and works of literature make use of techniques, but I cannot adequately explain said techniques.

 

This problem is really irritating and I have no idea what to do about it. Any clues?

It seems you might need to learn to "elaborate". Maybe your teacher can help you with this.

Something that might help is going over definitions––look at these different techniques and read about them, dictionary definitions would even do. Try to profoundly understand what these techniques are, how they are used and to what effect. Look at examples. The more you know about something, the easier it is to write a lot about it. Good luck!
