georgia-a
Hi guys, I just came back from Cape Town where I was volunteering for a little bit over a month. I fell in love with the city and South Africa in general. Does anybody know the process for applying to a South African university through the IB? Has anybody had any experience with SA unis or studies at one right now? I'm interested if not solely, mostly on UCT University of Cape Town and any feedback is more than welcome! Thanks! thinksyoucanthink
Hi there! It's been a while since you posted this. Since the academic year is usually from February-November, applications will usually begin from March/April. Since you're applying as an international student, you will have to connect with HESA (Higher Education South Africa) in order to obtain a Matric Exemption. Basically it is a waiver of sorts that acknowledges you have completed a 12th Grade education. Once you apply for a university, the university will most probably register you for a Matric Exemption. Afterwards you will need to apply for a student visa and accommodation etc. Hope that helped if you're still interested in applying! 1 Reply
