sillylion
Can someone give me a sample sentence for starting a poetry commentary conclusion? Been thinking about it for hours now. BTW, the poem, I'm analyzing is Auden's Funeral Blues. Reply
by.andrew
I write slowly so I often have little time to spend on the conclusion for a poetry commentary. I usually follow a formula that opens up with the thesis/central assertions, and summarize how certain themes are developed/portrayed through the writer's craft, i.e. literary devices. And then I end it off with a general statement, speculating how the particular themes in the work may pose significance in our everyday lives. Chio1012
You could start off with addressing the themes that you explored, and how their effects on the reader serve the purpose of the poem. Then end with a profound sentence, maybe considering how the reader's reaction may differ if the poem was written in a different time period, or as by.andrew said, how it evokes perhaps the struggles we face in our lives or similar themes like that.
