Geography Course and IA

basically in our school we have SL and HL where the HL has to do 4 options and the SL only has to do 2. Our IA's are the same topic and we do it as a class. so basically everyone writes about the same topic. This year our class is doing like some tourist number and data stuff. not sure yet but that's about it.

for the course

there is the core themes:

1. populations in transition

2.disparities in wealth and development

3.patterns in environmental quality and sustainability

4.patterns in resource consumption

optional themes:

5.freshwater

6.oceans and their coastal margins

7.extreme environments

8.hazards and disasters

9.leisures sports and tourism

10.the geography of food and health

11.urban environments

(your class or teacher gets to select which optional themes you are going to do, our teacher hates physical geography so we're basically set for doing 9 10 and 11.)

then there's part 3 which is GLobal interactions

12.measuring global interactions

13.changing space-the shrinking world

14.economic interactions and flows

15.environmental change

16.sociocultural exchanges

17.political outcomes

18.global interacctions at the local level.

yeah that's basically it. Mainly if you don't choose the options as physical geography, the rest are just common sense with a hint of history background.

Incorrect. HL only has to do 3 options for paper 2, SL does two, and HL does global interactions which is paper 3. I got a 6 in HL geography last year
