Spanish reading

I would recommend you to read El coronel no tiene quien le escriba by Gabriel García Márquez. Or maybe, if it is just to practice your spanish, try getting a book like Harry Potter 1 or 2 and reading it in spanish (if you like those...).

You could also try:

- Templado by Jorge Eslava. (It's a love story, but nothing like Twilight hahaha)

- Como agua para chocolate by Laura Esquivel. (another love story, and although it is used for IB literature courses I would say it is a pretty simple book. It is called Like water for chocolate in english)

If you need any more information on spanish books, contact me. Good luck!

One thing I found really useful (for me anyway) was parallel texts - short stories by classic Spanish-speaking authors from Spain, S. America etc. with the translation into English on the opposite page. Books like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Spanish-Short-Stories-Cuentos-Parallel/dp/0140265414

Just meant you could read it without having to have a Spanish dictionary to hand, and also it makes sense of the grammar for you. I enjoyed them, at any rate :) Provided you make sure to read the Spanish first and give it a shot yourself before reading the English, ahah.
