Rohandhamsania
We have to check anyone of the factors affecting cell membrane permeability. I have chosen the change in pH. Could you suggest a good experiment to show how does the changing pH affect the membrane permeability? Thanks a lot! Reply
Sandwich
That is really what YOUR task is - that's what design IAs are for, to challenge you to design the experiment. As it's your IA, we can't do the work for you. I have two suggestions:1. (...because you're not the first person in the world to have to investigate this and there's plenty of info and resources online to inspire you!)2. Don't pick a topic to investigate if you can't think of a way to investigate it! Basic. If you can't think of a way to investigate the effect of pH, there are loads of other highly experimentable angles you can take on this topic. Rohandhamsania
I understand that. I had started to measure the initial weight of the potato and the final weigh if the potato. The change in mass would indicate the effect of pH. however the difference in mass was very small and it was random. Their was no particular order to it. so i also used a colorimeter and again the readings were random.I had been looking online for how does pH affect the membrane permeability. i found that it was because of some addition of hydrogen or hydroxide ions but i was not very clear. Could you help me with that? Thanks Reply
