smiley
hi i am doing my IOP on the theme of 'escapism' in train to Pakistan.i would be talking about how the people in that time setting blamed their destinies and fates for what they were doing and what was happening around them instead of looking at the reality of the situation. i would also be talking about how certain charecters of the book get drunk to avoid the truth and try to escape from it.my teacher wants us to present it creatively rather than just reading out an essay...any ideas on how i should present it and also what else i should add to my IOP?please help!! Sandwich
Well for starters, you don't have to do it creatively. In my opinion, it's harder to get your points across and you get less said if you try and do it creatively... but each to their own, I know some people get a lot out of it If you think it's just making it more difficult, you shouldn't get marked down for doing a non-creative one, so check with your teacher. Anyway, that sounds like a good topic, provided you make sure you focus on the author's intentions when it comes to making the characters do these things. Authorial comment is the way to go! As for creative presenting, I've no idea. Some people write monologues from one of the characters, act it out, do a powerpoint (although this last one isn't exactly creative)... personally, I'd feel ridiculous doing either one of the first two! Sticking creativity in, in my opinion, does nothing to enhance the presentation because you basically do something 'creative' and then stand doing your original presentation afterwards to explain your 'creativity' anyway! Maybe I'm too cynical 1 Reply
